John Denver, a singer-songwriter from Colorado who specialized in folk pop music touched the hearts of millions. Born Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. in Roswell New Mexico, the singer-songwriter fell in love with Colorado and later settled in Aspen. Denver's popular songs about his adopted state encouraged many to move to Colorado. G. Brown the curator of the Colorado Music Hall of Fame said it was John Denver was the best artist to capture Colorado. The year 2011 was the year that John Denver was selected as the first Hall of Fame inductee. Today he personifies the state for people worldwide. In my journeys, you come across someone from another part of the globe, someone who is from New Zealand and you say "I'm from Colorado and the first word that comes you hear is"Oh John Denver! Brown said. Denver's first Top 10 hit as a solo artist after a short time in folk groups comprised of Take Me Home Country Roads composed by Bill Danoff. Danoff composed the track along with Johnny Cash in mind but after Denver was introduced to an earlier version immediately, he realized it was a hit single. The song was recorded by the singer just a few days later before performing the song to crowds of enthusiastic fans on the streets of Washington D.C.
